FCHS boys basketball claims road win

Pioneers beat NBC in regular season finale

The Fort Calhoun boys basketball team ended the regular season on a high note Friday, earning a 46-39 win at 15-6 North Bend Central.
The matchup was tight at the end of the each of the first three quarters before the Pioneers secured the victory with a 15-9 fourth period. While Grayson Bouwman and Adam Elofson made shots from the floor during the final 8 minutes, coach TJ O'Connor's team closed the game out from the foul line, shooting 11-for-14 on free throws.
Colby Bentley, who went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe in the fourth, finished with a game-high 18 points for FCHS. Bouwman scored seven points and Elofson had seven, too.
The third-seeded Pioneers next compete 7:30 p.m. Tuesday during the Class C1-4 Subdistrict Tournament at Omaha Concordia. Calhoun starts against second-seeded Douglas County West.
