As you may have read, I stopped by the second annual Washington County Duals last Friday.
It's a lovely event where our youth wrestling programs come together to raise money, gather canned food and compete on the mat.
But so much more happened in youth sports last weekend. So, let's catch up.
Arlington hosts youth hoops
The Arlington Invitational Boys Basketball Tournament was Saturday.
In the fourth- and fifth-grade division, the Arlington fifth-graders were 2-1 with a 38-32 victory against the Arlington fourth-graders. Those fourth-graders won their other two games, though, while the Blair Boys Black squad went 0-3.
The Jr. Cadets won the sixth-grade division with a 3-0 record, while the St. Paul Bulldogs outscored their opposition 104-73, finishing 2-1. The Arlington Eagles were 0-4, too, while Blair White was 0-3.
The best record of the seventh- and eighth-grade division, however, went to the Cavalry Red, who were 3-0. Arlington's eighth- and seventh-grade teams, meanwhile, went a combined 2-4 — 1-2 each.

A day later, the Blair Wrestling Club Tournament took place at Blair High School. A number of hometown wrestlers claimed top-two finishes, too.
Blair's Mason Ehle, Elliot Sok, Kane Nelson, Henry Sok, Jackson Davis, Brock Deutschman, Levi Baker, Easton Kruse, Emmet Rosterman, Francie Hall, Berkley Kruse, Reece Becker, Lorelai Fangmeier, Tilde Hall, Lainey Smoyer, Maren Thompson and Lily Warren all earned first in their divisions of competition.
Elias Forsen, Whitaker Oswald, Isaac Bacon, Knox Whyrick, Roland Moseman, Keaton Korus, Hudson Kult, Parker Johnson, Oliver Clough, Bruno Schmidt, Bryer Rosterman, Wyatt Jenson, Everette Culver, Landon Stirek, Thayer Johnson, David Standen, Levi Breyer, Ella Hahn, Edie Hall, Leah Hinman and Madelyn Kuhr, meanwhile, took second.
Eli Stamm led Pioneer Wrestler Club of Fort Calhoun with a third-place effort at 102-106 pounds in the fifth- and sixth-grade division as well. Tucker Jorgensen of Arlington was third at 164-184 pounds in the seventh- and eighth-grade division, too.

Lastly on the youth sports front, I'd like to apologize to Blair Basketball Club fourth-graders Bayleigh Haynie and Sydney Preister, who I misidentified in some Hoopstock tournament coverage a week or so ago.
