Atticus Dick and Blaise Baughman earned third place Saturday as six Washington County wrestlers overall medaled during the NSAA State Wrestling Championships in Omaha.
Dick, a BHS senior, secured the Class B bronze medal at 150 pounds with two wins at the CHI Health Center. He pinned both Cozad's Kooper Pohl and Caleb Jackson of Seward, stopping the matches in 1:49 and 1:48, respectively.
Baughman, meanwhile, was third at 175 pounds for the Bears. The sophomore won two 4-1 decisions on the final day of the three-day state tourney, besting 30-8 Lexington wrestler Jason Hernandez in the final match of his 46-8 season.
BHS' Tyson Brown and Savanah Roan placed Saturday, too. Brown went 1-1 at 138 pounds Saturday, claiming fourth after a sudden victory overtime loss to Jorge Carrizales of Ogallala.
Roan was 0-2 Saturday, but capped her senior season sixth at 130 pounds. She is the first Blair girls wrestling medalist in school history.
Arlington junior Kelise Krivohlavek is her school's first female medalist, too. The 125-pounder went 4-2 at the state tourney to take fourth, and finishes 38-4 overall this season.
A Fort Calhoun freshman, Merritt Olberding, medaled during his first state tourney as well. The 106-pounder lost his first match Saturday, but secured fifth in Class B by forfeit.
All six wrestlers will stand on the state podium during Saturday afternoon's championship finals. Nebraska Public Media is televising the 3 p.m. event, while it can also be streamed online at nebraskapublicmedia.org.
