Arlington and Blair High School softball players were recognized Sunday with the release of the Omaha World-Herald's postseason honors.
Two Bears earned first-team all-state recognition, while nine more Washington County standouts claimed honorable mention from the state newspaper.
BHS junior Kalli Ulven was a first-team Class B honoree, but also a second-team All-Nebraska selection. The pitcher went 22-4 this fall with a 1.297 ERA and 189 strikeouts.
Ulven's season batting average — .494 — was the fourth-best in Bears softball history.
Nessa McMillen also earned first-team Class B standing in 2022, according to the World-Herald. The junior infielder claimed the status with a .451 average, 41 hits, 40 runs scored and 38 RBIs.
Both Blair players were also first team All-Omaha Area selections.
The Bears' honorable mention recipients, meanwhile, were Leah Chance, Sophia Wrich, Brooke Janning, Joslyn Policky and senior Tessa Villotta. Villota, an infielder, finished her final season with five homers and 37 RBIs.
Chance notched 43 total hits — including 15 doubles — and Wrich had three homers. Janning added 46 hits and a 2.82 pitching ERA, while Policky hit five homers this fall.
Arlington's Cadie Robinson, Kiersten Taylor, Britt Nielsen and Hannah Stahlecker produced notable stat line in 2022, too. They earned Class C honorable mention for their efforts.
Robinson hit at a .500 average with 27 RBIs. The senior catcher — who set school records for career fielding percentage, RBIs and doubles this past season — had two homers and 15 doubles, too.
Taylor and Stahlecker were also seniors this fall. Taylor earned nine pitching victories and hit at a .387 average, while Stahlecker hit .344 with two homers.
The Eagles were 12-13 overall this season as Blair went 31-6 to finish third in Class B.
Fort Calhoun went 11-13 this past season with Sam Brewer, Kaitlyn Welchert, Lucie Larsen, Anna Taylor and Kaylee Taylor claiming All-Nebraska Capitol Conference honors as well.
