HOPKINS LAW OFFICE, LLC Pamela Lynn Hopkins, Attorney 1640 Washington Street Blair, NE 68008 NOTICE OF PUBLIC WORKS HEARING AND MEETING TO APPROVE PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS FORT CALHOUN DRAINAGE DISTRICT Fort Calhoun Drainage District of Washington County, Nebraska, hereby gives notice to all owners of land within the boundaries of said District and to all other persons interested that the public hearing previously recessed on the 19th day of October, 2021, October 28, 2021. November 23, 2021, December 14, 2021, February 15, 2022, May 4, 2022 and June 22, 2022 shall continue at the Fort Calhoun City Hall, 110 South 14th Street, Fort Calhoun, Washington County, Nebraska, on Monday, October 10, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. The purpose of the hearing is to recommend approval of a final plan of public works to restore the drainage district system after its destruction from the 2019 floods. Engineering reports have been received, and based on the recommendations of the engineering reports, the plan of public works will include clearing debris and silt, replacement of missing and damaged culverts, seeding and erosion control, and reconstructing ditch levees throughout the district, including at the Deer Creek Ditch, the Turkey Creek Ditch and the Horseshoe Lake Ditch. Financing of the project may be accomplished through FEMA, NEMA and the District’s assessments, and may include loans or bonds. The total estimated cost is not more than Three Million dollars ($3,000,000.00). Immediately following the hearing, the Fort Calhoun Drainage District shall hold a public meeting to consider final approval and financing of the plan of public works, referenced herein; and approval of claims. Anyone requiring special accommodations or assistance because of visual or hearing impairment should contact the District Secretary not less than 5 days prior to the meeting.
