Fort Calhoun High School recently announced its new head volleyball coach for fall 2021, Sarah Rangel.
The former Omaha Gross head coach and Dana College assistant replaces James Slie, who took over the Pioneers' program in 2015 and departs after a 15-11 season last fall.
Rangel, a Nebraska Elite club coach, played college volleyball at Missouri Baptist College in St. Louis, Peru State and Bellevue University in 2003 while also starting her club coaching career. She's led numerous Elite volleyball teams to national tournaments and conducts private lessons, as well.
Rangel also coached Dana's junior varsity volleyball team for two years and was a varsity assistant. In addition, she was a JV coach for the Gross Cougars before leading her alma mater's varsity lineup from 2015-2019.
The new Pioneer is married and has four children who compete in volleyball, soccer, gymnastics, baseball and flag football. She works as a recruiter in the healthcare industry.
