Coach David Struble used the word “amazing” to describe his Fremont swimming team's Elkhorn Invite showing Saturday.
The Tigers' girls team took second out of 10 teams, while the boys were fourth out of 11. Jane Busboom of Blair and Arlington student-athlete Lizzie Meyer were both apart of FHS event wins, too.
Busboom, a junior, won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.41 and was a member of the victorious 200 freestyle relay team with Meyer, Charlotte Vech and Madelyn Buck. The swimmer also claimed second in the 100 freestyle and the 200 medley relay with Meyer, Vech and BHS classmate Ryleigh Schroeter.
Schroeter also took second in the 200 IM, was third in the 100 freestyle, and joined Fremont teammates Alexis Rasmussen, Kami Spilinek and Buck on the second-place 400 free relay squad.
Blair swimmer Jacob Hanson's top finish came during the 200 medley relay with Zayne Keslar, Gabe Christ and Micah Moore. The Tiger boys team was second in 1:45.46.
Dathan Hansen of Arlington was on a fifth-place FHS relay team, too.
The Tigers next compete for top Heartland Athletic Conference finishes Friday and Saturday.
