Freshman Raeann Massey led a first-half onslaught Tuesday as the Fort Calhoun girls basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak.
The guard scored 15 of her team-best 17 points during the first and second quarters, leading the Pioneers past the visiting Nebraska City Pioneers, 55-19. Coach Marty Plum's FCHS squad led 25-4 after 8 minutes and 42-9 at halftime, and improved to 13-7 on the season.
Massey knocked down two second period 3-pointers before scoring her final bucket of the rout during the third. Ansley Elofson, meanwhile, finished the 36-point win with 15.
Calhoun sophomore Maelie Nelson added 12 points during the victory, too.
The Pioneers were scheduled to compete Thursday at Tekamah-Herman and host Raymond Central today in their regular season finale. Subdistrict play then starts Tuesday, though game information and start times were unavailable as of press time.
