Eagles, Pioneers claim district football honors

10 county athletes garner 1st team recognition

Class C1 District 3 football players from Fort Calhoun and Arlington were among those recognized recently with the release of the All-District team nominations.
Six Pioneers claimed first-team recognition, while four senior Eagles earned the same status. Nine more Washington County athletes claimed honorable mention, too.
First-team honorees representing coach Adolph Shepardson's FCHS team were seniors Clint Dierks, Zane Schwarz, Jayce Douchey, Tristan Fuhrman and Jesse Hartline, and junior Austin Welchert.
Coach Coltor Mattson's AHS squad was represented on the first team by Dustin Kirk, Nick Smith, Logan Kaup and Isaac Foust.
The Pioneers' Grayson Bouwman, John Doyle, Ty Hallberg and Michael Pratt were honorable mention nominees as were the Eagles' Frankie Rosenbalm, Collin Burdess, Braden Monke, Cade Podany and Weston Wollberg.
Fort Calhoun reached the Class C1 playoffs this fall, closing the year with a 7-3 record. The Pioneers were second in District 3 behind Boys Town.
Arlington, meanwhile, went 4-5 overall.
