The following story appears in the May 27th Washington County Enterprise. The state tournament has since finished with results found here: State Golf Update.

Blair High School golf coach Ross Udey liked what he saw from Easton Chaffee on Tuesday's first hole at the NSAA Class B State Championships.
“Great start,” he texted from Scottsbluff. “Two-putt birdie.”
The BHS junior started the two-day tournament at 1-under-par after one hole and tied for 26th after his first 18 at Scotts Bluff Country Club. He finished 10-over with 82 strokes, while Omaha Skutt's William Mullin topped the leaderboard with a 4-under 68.
“Easton was disappointed in his finish,” Udey said. “Only three-putt of the day.”
The championship event continued Wednesday with Chaffee teeing off at 9:30 a.m. Mountain time. Full results will appear in next Tuesday's Washington County Pilot-Tribune.
During the first round, though, the Bear finished with his first-hole birdie and eight made par shots. He shot even on five-straight holes from Nos. 9 through 13.
“Drove the ball better than an 82,” Udey said, however, noting that Chaffee's short game was a bit off.
“Putted really well,” he continued. “Green side chips, little off.”
While the BHS standout's first round score matched that of Wyatt Torczon of Elkhorn Mount Michael, McCook's Reid Loop and Tanner Walling of Wayne, it also bested the efforts of 41 more Class B golfers in Scottsbluff.
Norris, meanwhile, carded the first day's top team score, finishing with 304 strokes to Skutt's 307. York was third with a 316.
