Blair Family YMCA team competes at state swimming meet

Barracuda teams earn 7th, 8th

The Blair Family YMCA Swim Team competed Saturday during the Nebraska YMCA State Championships in Fremont.
The girls team took seventh and the boys were eighth. The Fremont Area Swim Team (FAST), meanwhile, took first in the boys' standings, while the Grand Island YMCA Quicksilver earned first in the girls' competition.
Isabel Chrans led the Blair Barracudas with a second-place effort in the 100-yard freestyle. She clocked in at 1:25.95, while also earning a third-place result with the her 200 medley relay squad of Alexis Monif, Joey Bruce and Brooklyn Ballinger. They finished the race in 3:19.86, while the 200 freestyle team of Monif, Ballinger, Bruce and Madelyn Prinds took fourth in their event.
Individually, Monif added fourth-place 100-yard freestyle effort, while Bryher Gassman was fourth in her 50 backstroke, stopping the clock in 39.05.
Lily Moore's best finish was fourth in the 500 freestyle, too.
Blair's Jackson and Cooper Norine, Phoenix Bartlett and Malachi Chrans combined for a fifth-place effort in their 200 medley relay race as well. The team finished in 3:24.38.
Hunter Moore's top finish was seventh in the 100 breaststroke, while Addison Woehl's was 10th in her own 100 breaststroke.
Altogether, the Barracudas combined for 607 team points at the Dillon Family Aquatic Center.
Jacob Hanson of Blair, meanwhile, competed for FAST, earning five first-place finishes. Hannah Huenink was second in the 200 breaststroke, too, while Olivia Huenink was first in the 100 IM. Kerrigan Johannes was involved in three second-place efforts, too.
