BHS girls win 2 straight
After winning just two of their previous 10 games, the Blair High School girls basketball team is two for its last two.
Coach Matt Aschoff's Bears (9-10 overall) beat both Omaha Concordia and Omaha Roncalli within three days of each other.
First, BHS earned its eighth win of the season Thursday at Concordia, 58-33. The loss dropped the host Mustangs to just 3-19.
Addie Sullivan led coach Aschoff's Bears with 17 points, making five 2-point field goals and shooting 7-for-8 from the foul line. Kate Wulf was 2-for-2 on free throws, too, but with two 3-point makes for 10 points total.
BHS' Leah Chance added seven points and freshman Kaitlynn O'Neil had six as well. Their Bears led 32-13 at halftime and 50-19 after three quarters.
On Saturday, Sullivan scored 17 more points during a 13-point home win — 65-52 — against 9-12 Roncalli. Freshman Taytum Macholan hit three 3-pointers and scored 17 points, too, while Wulf finished with 14.
The Bears trailed the Pride after one quarter, but outscored the visitors 18-5 during the second period to take control.
Coach Aschoff's team next wraps up its regular season schedule today at Norris and Thursday, at home, against Crete. The contests begin at 5:15 p.m. and 5:30, respectively.

Boys upset No. 6 Roncalli
Less than 48 hours after a 34-point loss at Class C1 No. 2 Omaha Concordia, the Blair boys basketball team bounced back with a 62-60 home upset of Class B No. 6 Omaha Roncalli on Saturday.
The Bears (8-11 overall) built a 43-30 lead through three quarters, but the Pride battled back with a 30-point fourth. It needed 32, though, as coach Chris Whitwer's team caught a break in the final seconds.
“They got a free look at a layup, but it rimmed out at the buzzer,” he said.
Crayton Macholan and Aidan Slominski hit late free throws as BHS claimed the victory. Macholan, a senior, finished with a game-high 22 points, while Bo Meier scored 17 and Easton Bosanek had 16.
Brady McGill led Roncalli (14-6) with 14 points in defeat.
On Thursday, Concordia blasted Blair, 62-28. The 19-1 Mustangs built a lead from the onset, taking a 17-4 advantage through one period and leading by 27 at halftime.
The Bears, meanwhile, struggled to score. They never accumulated more than nine points in a quarter and finished with a season low in total points. Macholan led BHS with seven, while Bosanek had five, knocking down one of the Bears' two 3-point shots for the game.
Next, the Bears conclude regular season play against Norris and Crete. The road game with the Titans starts at 7:45 p.m. today before Thursday's rescheduled home game against the Cardinals at 7:15.
