The Arlington boys basketball team's struggles continued Friday as it lost its third-straight game to a team with a losing record.
Louisville (10-12 overall) built an 11-point halftime lead at home and held on late, while coach Tyler Spitser's Eagles fell to 8-13. They are just 2-8 in their last 10 games.
Logan Kaup scored 18 points for AHS in defeat, while Frankie Rosenbalm notched 10. The pair combined for 11 points during the fourth period as their squad outscored the Lions 23-19.
The Eagles trailed by as many as 16 points during the final 8 minutes, but battled back to within striking distance with a 13-4 run to end the game. Kaup started the streak, hitting a 3-pointer and the subsequent free throw when he was fouled.
Nick Smith's 3-pointer with 1:44 remaining cut Louisville's lead to single digits, but there wasn't enough time to climb all the way back into the game.
To start, Arlington was outscored 26-15 in the first half. It trailed just 11-7 after one period, but lost ground in the second quarter despite two 3-point makes by Rosenbalm.
Next, AHS closes out its regular season Friday against top-10 ranked Omaha Concordia. The varsity road game starts at approximately 6:30 p.m. after the 5 p.m. junior varsity contest.
