The Arlington High School baseball team trailed one-win Omaha Buena Vista 7-4 when Jackson Stosich substituted onto the mound during the top of the third inning Saturday.
The Eagles wound up winning 18-8 at home, finishing off the run-rule victory during the sixth inning.
“This is very important for our mentality,” Stosich said.
AHS (3-5 overall) hadn't won since March 21, but took control when the relief pitcher stabilized things on the hill.
“I just think having a positive mind all of the time just really helps,” Stosich said.
He ended the Bison's top of the third with a strikeout, and — after Tyler Ott scored when Andy Misfeldt hit into an error — cracked a two-RBI double to the right field fence to tie the game at 7-7.
From there, the Eagles' Killian McIntosh produced the go-ahead RBI single.
Coach Tyler Stender's team added five runs apiece during the fifth and sixth innings, too. Tim Halley, Tanner Kyllo and McIntosh plated runs during the fifth, building a 13-7 lead.
McIntosh, Luke Sharp and Ott then supplied the game-ending RBIs in the sixth. Stosich and Halley scored on passed balls during the inning, too.
Arlington was scheduled to face Raymond Central on Monday and next competes Wednesday during a home triangular at the Washington County Fairgrounds. It faces Omaha Roncalli first at 2 p.m. before playing Elkhorn Mount Michael at, approximately, 7.

The Eagles earned a 5-3 lead through four innings, but lost their advantage when the hosts scored five runs during the bottom half of the fifth frame. Oliver Ladehoff notched two RBIs for AHS, while Halley and Kyllo added one apiece in defeat.
Additionally, McIntosh, Sharp and Owen Ladehoff scored Arlington runs, too. Ott and Stosich pitched, finishing with two strikeouts each as well.
