Coach Dustin Humphrey's Fort Calhoun golf team returns three letter winners this spring.
Owen Miller, Jayden Miller and Beau Ruma all competed during the Class C District 2 Tournament in Oakland last season, finishing 18 holes with 112, 112 and 139 strokes, respectively.
Humphrey anticipates his team will be improved off of the tee this season after offseason work indoors.
“We have been working all winter in our golf room both on the simulator and on the putting green,” he wrote in response to preseason questioning by Enterprise Media Group.
With the NSAA allowing official practices to begin Monday, the Pioneers will have plenty more time to work on their golf games prior to the first competition of the 2024 season. Humphrey, assistant coach Mike Mallette and the golfers start their schedules March 28 at an Oakland-Craig triangular at Oakland Golf Club. After dates in Wahoo, Valley, Ashland and Leigh, FCHS will compete close to home April 16 at River Wild Golf Club just north of Blair.
