You know, sometimes the athletes make my decisions for me.
This week’s Nannen Physical Therapy Athletes of the Week are state wrestling medalists Merritt Olberding, Kelise Krivohlavek and Atticus Dick. They were their teams’ top finishers Saturday in Omaha.

Merritt Olberding, Fort Calhoun wrestling: The freshman Pioneer took fifth at 106 pounds, finishing the year 36-15 overall. I’ll give Presley Olberding, Merritt’s brother, special recognition for his first state win as well as Colby Bentley who scored the team-high during the FCHS boys basketball team’s win at North Bend Central.

Kelise Krivohlavek, Arlington wrestling: The 125-pound Eagle earned her girls team’s first-ever state medal in Omaha, claiming fourth with a 38-4 season record. Special recognition goes to Kolton Gilmore for two state wins as well as the AHS girls basketball team, which won its subdistrict final last Thursday.

Atticus Dick, Blair wrestling: The 150-pounder gets Athlete of the Week honors over fellow third-place finisher, sophomore Blaise Baughman, due to his status as an elder statesman. The senior wrapped up his career with a bronze medal, finishing 44-13 overall. Beyond Baughman, special recognition goes to two more senior medalists — Tyson Brown and Savanah Roan — and Addie Sullivan, who scored 22 points in a win for the BHS girls hoops team.

Thanks for reading. Congrats to all of the Washington County kids out there working hard on their athletic skills.
