They did it.
The latest Nannen Physical Therapy Athletes of the Week — Callee Shearer, Ali Dill and Crayton Macholan — put in the work and succeeded in sports competition last week.

Callee Shearer, Arlington wrestling: The first-year wrestler put in a 3-1 Friday at subdistricts in Omaha and advanced onto the district tournament. She is 19-17 overall at 130 pounds this season. Special congratulations to her five teammates — Brooklyn Ruskamp, Kelise Krivohlavek, Rylie Kyllo, Sofie Lewis and Carly Segebart — who also produced important wins to advance at Burke High School. Cameron Hancock and Braxton Soll of the boys team also deserve credit for unbeaten tournaments Friday at Boys Town.

Ali Dill, Fort Calhoun wrestling: The Pioneer actually lost to Shearer in her first match of the same subdistrict tournament, but didn’t let it define her day. She won two straight from there, becoming the first and only FCHS girls wrestler to qualify for NSAA district competition. Special mention to Grayson Bouwman and Declyn Otte of the boys basketball team, who combined for 33 points in the Pioneers’ win against Arlington last Tuesday.

Crayton Macholan, Blair basketball: I, unofficially, had the senior guard down for 28 points Saturday. Whether it was less or more, the fourth-quarter effort of the Bear helped push his team to a much-needed, 65-51 road win at Seward. Special recognition goes to Josie Tilson and Ali Wheeler, who were unbeaten at subdistrict wrestling, as well as Henry Sullivan, who I watched gut through an injury to pick up a win at state dual wrestling.
