Winter weather wiped our Washington County high school sport schedule clean last week — and, well, today.
Blair and Fort Calhoun snuck in some Thursday competition a few days back, but Arlington was completely shut out. That all said, Nannen Physical Therapy Athletes of the Week Tyson Brown and Raeann Massey still snuck in some strong results.
Tyson Brown, Blair wrestling: The 138-pound Bear earned a pin during BHS’ dual win against Missouri Valley. Notably, though, he’s an impressive 33-5 this season now.
Raeann Massey, Fort Calhoun basketball: The FCHS freshman scored 11 points during a win against Louisville, while also helping her team hold the Lions to just 16 total points. Coach Marty Plum said she provided “great energy” as the Pioneers improved to 9-4.
Here’s hoping we have more to talk about in Athlete of the Week discussion next week. I’d love a 25 degree day one of these days.
