Here we go.
You didn’t think I’d forget about the Nannen Physical Therapy Athletes of the Week feature, did you? It’s a new season and Washington County’s best are performing at a high level.
So, let’s get to it.

Atticus Dick, Blair boys wrestling: The senior went unbeaten during the Bears’ home dual tournament, which his team won. He had three pins across five matches, picking up his 100th career victory during the opening weekend of the season. Special mention goes to freshman Gueryn Kay of the BHS girls basketball team. She came out firing and led the Bears in scoring during her debut against Omaha Mercy.

Grayson Bouwman, Fort Calhoun boys basketball: It’s safe to say the Pioneer is off to a good start this season after 25- and 33-point games to start December. The senior surpassed 1,000 career points during the season-opening win against Fremont Bergan, too. Special mention, however, goes to a pair of wrestlers. Merritt Olberding started his freshman season with a tournament win, while Madi Larrick earned the FCHS girls their first medal.

Britt Nielsen, Arlington girls basketball: The Eagles are off to a 2-0 start and Nielsen is a big reason why. She scored 25 points on Saturday against Columbus Lakeview. Special mention to wrestler Dianna Flores, who started her career on the mat 2-0 at a Lakeview tourney.

Congrats to these standouts, and thank you for coming back, again and again, to check out our Athletes of the Week coverage.
