Mary Kathryn Shumake, age 77 of Tekamah, passed away March 27, 2024. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Graveside services will follow in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, March 29 from 5-7 p.m. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home.
Mary was born November 7, 1946, in Blair, Nebraska, the daughter of Chris and Willie (Jones) Bolton. She was raised in Blair and attended Blair Schools. In 1964, she was united in marriage to Dale Kephart; the couple had four children. In 1989, she was united in marriage to Bob Shumake until his passing in 2006. Mary worked in healthcare most of her life. When not working, she took care of her five children. She enjoyed birds, gardening, sewing, embroidering, and mostly spending time with her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob Shumake, son Jeff Kephart, brothers: Jim, Bill, and Larry Bolton.
Mary is survived by her children: Penny (Gregg) Lorenzen, Justin Kephart, Les (Cristina) Kephart, Curt (Mandy) Wiese; grandchildren: Nikki Lorenzen, Eric (Kylie) Lorenzen, Bryan (Lindsey) Lorenzen, Jennifer (Lee) Layton, Jessica (Garrett) Hodson, Justina (Josh) Otto, River Kephart, Brice Kephart, Dylan Kephart, Brie Wiese, and Emily Wiese; nine great grandchildren; siblings: Sharon Robinson, Gloria Mantell, Shirley Grandgenett, Bob Bolton, Pat Bolton; along with several nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
