Marilyn Marie Baxter, age 79, passed away April 21, 2024, in Omaha, Neb.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 26, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Abiding Faith Baptist Church in Fort Calhoun, Neb. Graveside services will follow in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 25 from 6-8 p.m. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair.

Marilyn was born Oct. 17, 1944 in Fremont, Neb., the daughter of Leslie and Anna (Bohs) Johnson. She was raised in Blair and Omaha. Marilyn was a proud graduate of Benson High School. After high school, she attended beauty school.

She was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Baxter on Sept. 17, 1965. The couple made their permanent home in Fort Calhoun.

Over the years, Marilyn worked as a cook at various restaurants in Fort Calhoun. She retired from Grain Dealers Mutual in Omaha. Marilyn enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and camping with her family. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling with her significant other, Wayne Beck. The greatest love of Marilyn’s life was always her family. She was a member of Abiding Faith Baptist Church and loved attending services with her sister.

Marilyn is survived by her children: Tammy Baxter and Rick (Tracy) Baxter; grandchildren: Shaleen (Aaron) Bowles, Blake Tierney, Casey Tierney, Bailey Baxter, and Courtney Baxter; 11 great grandchildren; sister Beverly Christensen; brother Gary (Judy) Johnson; sisters-in-law: Katie Cook, Marva Adams, and Christy (Gary) Biestle; brother-in-law Kenny (Lona) Baxter; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard “Dick” Baxter; her parents; brother Bob (Karen) Johnson; great grandchildren: Gabe Tierney and Ryder Tierney; and her significant other Wayne Beck.
