Six Blair youth soccer players traveled to Memphis, Tenn., recently to participate in the ODP (Olympic Development Program) Interregional Showcase.
Leah Hinman and Abbi Vakiner represented Nebraska as 2010 division players, while 2014 players Ella Ammon, Elizabeth Ehle, Bayleigh Haynie and Claire Vakiner also competed during the Showcase.
According to the ODP website, the February soccer event is an opportunity for players to be identified as pool players in the 2012-2008 age divisions. It also serves as a “scouting opportunity for various levels, including USYS Regional & National programs, US Soccer, MLS, MLS Next and college.”
The Interregional Showcase also allows for state associations the chance to see competition from other states to assess their standing.
As a result of the Showcase, Abbi Vakiner was invited to participate during the summer's Midwest Region ODP Camp in Rockford, Ill., this July.
