Susan “Sue” Renee Thompson, 64, of Kansas City, Mo., daughter of Dick and Marge Nielsen, passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City. Sue was born Feb. 19, 1957, in Blair.
Sue attended Blair High School and enjoyed being a cheerleader and hanging out with family and friends. Sue married Don Kohler in 1972 in Blair and had two daughters. After her marriage with Don, Sue married Jeff Thompson of Sioux Falls, S.D., in 1986 and they wed in Las Vegas in 2003 surrounded by family and friends.
Sue worked most of her life as a customer service representative. She especially enjoyed working at Lifetouch Publishing in Kansas City, Mo., and made many friends throughout her years of service there. She enjoyed going to rock concerts and hosting the family events. She loved being around her family and traveled to see them as often as possible.
She is survived by her husband and friend of 35 years, Jeff Thompson, daughter Tammy (Joe) Perkins, daughter Jenny (Mike) Weigand; grandchildren Samantha Weigand, Colin Weigand, Mason Mindrup and Morgan Mindrup; great grandchildren Dante Brandkamp and Marcus Brandkamp. Her siblings Rick and Sue Nielsen, Mary Donner, and Dan Nielsen. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Marge Nielsen.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. with funeral services immediately following. Luncheon will follow the services at the American Legion.
