Greyson Kay hit a half-court buzzer-beater Thursday at Bennington as the Blair boys basketball team earned a 63-62 Class B Subdistrict 5  Tournament finals win.
The Bears (10-12 overall) trailed the No. 4 Badgers (16-8) by two points after Nick Colvert hit a pair of free throws with 1.9 seconds remaining. Kay caught an inbound pass from J'Shawn Unger, however, and scored the game-winner from beyond midcourt.
Kay finished with 20 points in the win, while Crayton Macholan added 15. Bo Meier had eight, Nolan Slominski scored six and Elijah Morgan had three.
BHS also defeated South Sioux City, 68-56, on Wednesday night during subdistrict play as Kay scored 31 points.
The Bears’ district finals opponent isn’t yet official. Matchups will be released by the NSAA this weekend with games to be played Monday and Tuesday across the state.
Until then, the Blair girls basketball team plays its district finals game 1 p.m. Saturday at York. With a win, the Bears will qualify for their second-straight Class B state tournament.
The boys team, meanwhile, are one win away from their third-straight state qualification.
