STATE UPDATE: Bears’ Soukup competes in Class B golf

Blair High School senior Bode Soukup finished 36 holes with 189 strokes Wednesday during the final day of the NSAA Class B Boys Golf State Championships.
The Bear was 72nd overall at Scotts Bluff Country Club in Scottsbluff.
Soukup, who next reports to Lincoln to join the Nebraska football team for offseason workouts, shot an 18-hole 89 on Tuesday before finishing his second 18 holes with 100 swings Wednesday. He made one shot for birdie, while shooting par on eight more holes during the state tournament.
The Class B state champion is Carson Thurber of Norris, who finished with 146 swings total. His Titans won the team title, too, topping Scottsbluff by five strokes.
