Post 154 Bears move 12-14 overall

The Blair Senior Legion baseball team played three games in four days, going 1-2 starting with a 7-4 loss at Bennington on July 6.
From there, the Post 154 Bears dropped an 8-4 home game to South Omaha and won, 7-2, against Elkhorn Training Camp (ETC).
Dylan Swanson earned the complete-game pitching win during Saturday's victory against the Knights at Vets Field. The left-hander allowed two RBI swings during the third inning, but otherwise held them scoreless.
Blair led 1-0 after one inning, 5-0 after two and never trailed. Morgan Rump hit a two-RBI single up the middle of the infield during the sixth inning to all but put the game away. Ethan Baessler and Swanson scored on the play with Swanson barreling over the ETC catcher when an off-the-mark throw led them into one another.
A day earlier, Eli Morgan plated three runs during the seventh inning Friday against South Omaha, but the Bears still lost — 8-4.
Morgan was 1-for-1 during the bottom half of the final inning and the game. Rump, meanwhile, was 2-for-3 with his own run-scoring hit during the first frame.
Blair's Conner O'Neil and Greyson Kay finished with two hits apiece, too, though Post 154 lost for the 14th time this summer.
Tyler Andersen started for coach James Bilslend on the mound and took the loss despite six strikeouts.
On July 6, Blair and Bennington played a clean game without a single error on Post 266's home diamond. The home squad topped the Bears 7-4 with a four-run fifth inning as the catalyst.
Post 154 built a 3-2 lead during the top of the fifth inning, but fell behind from there. It scored a seventh inning run, but couldn't force extras with anymore despite a 9-6 advantage in hits.
Swanson, O'Neil and Bo Nielsen notched RBIs for Blair, while Rump had a team-best two hits and Baessler notched a triple.
Rump took the pitching loss to Bennington, surrendering 10 walks during 4 1/3 innings on the mound.

Fort Calhoun games called off
The Fort Calhoun Senior Legion baseball team practiced on their home diamond the evening of July 6.
It had previously been scheduled to compete against West Point that night, but a miscommunication between the teams dashed those plans. Then, just hours before the aforementioned practice, a Thursday night game against Yutan fell through.
As a result, the Zig Drywall Post 348 Pioneers went without a game after the July 5 win against Syracuse. They were scheduled to play Omaha Central on Monday and next compete at home on Wednesday against Springfield.
Coach Brandon Wynn's Senior team is 6-10 this season.

Arlington games fall through
Arlington's planned Thursday night Senior Legion baseball game was called off, too. Coach Ed Menking said the Eagles would be too shorthanded to play Waterloo-Valley that night with the Junior Legion Area 3 Tournament set to begin the next day.
Post 71 was tentatively scheduled to play Blair on Monday and will next compete Saturday at Waterloo-Valley. Menking has actively been looking to schedule potential games in-between, too.
