Ronald Hansen, 89

Ronald Dean Hansen, often known as “Black Cloud” of Blair, NE, passed to eternal life at the age of 89 on Oct. 27, 2023. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, at Campbell Aman Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at noon. Military graveside services will be held in the Blair Cemetery.

Ron was born May 23, 1934, in a log cabin  in rural Tekamah, NE.  He was the eldest son of Lake and Katherine Hansen. Ron grew up and worked on the farm with his dad in Tekamah, attended and graduated from Tekamah High School. During high school, he met Erma Kersey. On Feb. 15, 1957, Ron joined the United States Army. On Aug. 3, 1957, when Ron was home on leave, he and Erma were united in marriage. After their wedding, the couple moved to Pasadena, California while Ron continued his time in the Army. On Feb. 2, 1960, Ron was honorably discharged, and they moved back to Blair. Ron, at a very young age was actively farming with his dad and continued his entire life, with the exception of his time of service to our country. He also worked full time at Huntel, working his way up the ladder to head up Huntel's central office, retiring from the company at the age of 62. He continued farming every day operating Hansen Tree Farm, up unto the time of his death. 

One of Ron’s passions was writing poems which he could amazingly recite from memory one after another. He wrote and published a book of poetry and had also served as the editor of an employee Huntel Newsletter. He cherished his family and friends. When Ron did retire, he stayed very busy and really enjoyed taking family trips to his cabin AKA "The Last Resort" at Lake of The Ozarks.

Ron is survived by his children: Kimberly (Bernie) Kostrunek, Timothy Dean Hansen, Brenda Foster, Wendy Pape, Terry (Sandi) Hansen. a sister, Guinevere (Larry) Doeden, cousin Allan (Erika) Hansen,  many other dear cousins, nieces and nephews, 11 grandchildren:  Sean, Jennifer (Todd), David, Brandi (Joe), Ronald, Jessica (Josh), Misty, HaiLee (Kyle), Dillon, Tim (Marcie) and Theresa, along with six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lake and Katherine Hansen, and his loving wife, Erma, and a brother, Richard Hansen.
