PUBLIC NOTICE A kickoff meeting for the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Area Planning Agency’s (MAPA) Regional Digital Equity Planning Committee is scheduled from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. March 7, 2023, in the MAPA Training Room, 2222 Cuming St. Omaha, NE 68102. As one of Nebraska’s eight Economic Development Districts, MAPA will be developing a digital equity plan for improving broadband access in Douglas, Sarpy, Washington and Cass Counties. The work done by the committee will inform digital equity planning in Pottawattamie and Mills Counties too. Anyone involved in addressing issues of digital access, affordability and digital literacy to help overcome equity challenges providing programs, services, and funding is encouraged to attend. That includes those working with target populations in rural areas, populations 60 years of age and older, racial or ethnic minorities, low-income individuals, those with limited English proficiency and limited technology skills and knowledge, as well as individuals with disabilities, veterans or incarcerated populations. Meetings of the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Area Planning Agency are conducted in compliance with the Nebraska and Iowa Statutes of the Open Meetings Act. Auxiliary aids, language assistance and services are available when requested at least three business days in advance.
