More Washington County resident rolled up their sleeves to get the COVID-19 vaccine. There were 150 doses of the vaccine administered Thursday at Memorial Community Hospital and Health System (MCH) through the partnership with Three Rivers Public Health Department.

Last week, the health department received an additional 200 doses.

“This increased our weekly doses this week from 900 to 1,100,” said Terra Uhing, executive director of Three Rivers Public Health Department. “The increase in weekly doses has allowed us to provide an additional 100 doses to Methodist Fremont Health, 50 additional doses to Saunders Medical Center and 50 additional doses to Memorial Community Hospital.”

The health department also announced a partnership with Scribner Pharmacy, which will be receiving 20 per week.

“We are so grateful to our partners as we could not serve our communities without them,” Uhing said.

During the week of Jan. 24, the department's healthcare partners and Ashland Pharmacy provided 616 doses to individuals 65 years of age or older. Three Rivers administered 385 first doses and 416 second doses as well.

To date, health department staff have administered 1,528 doses.

Washington County saw its COVID-19 community risk dial last week from 2.71 to 2.57. The health department's jurisdiction, which also includes Dodge and Saunders counties, also decreased to 2.57.

The decrease was due to an increase in the ability to contact trace within 48 hours, a decrease in the number of patients who were hospitalized with COVID-19, a slight increase in weekly positivity and an increase in ICU bed availability.

Three Rivers reported last week a Washington County woman in her 70s died due to COVID-19.
