Mike Rolland: father, husband, brother and son; unexpectedly passed away January 6th, 2024 in Omaha Nebraska at the age of 49. He was born June 21, 1974, in Blair, Neb., to two loving parents, Kevin and Sheryl Rolland. It was everything in between these years that made his time with us so special because of the impact he made on the countless lives he touched and inspired. A Celebration of Life will be held on Jan. 15, 2024 at the American Legion in Blair, Nebraska from 5–7 p.m.
Mike spent his early years growing up on the family farm known as Rolland’s Farm Supplies, where Mike and his sister Jaclyn would create fond memories of building tree forts, gardening, and helping with the family business. Mike was always someone who wanted to help people; since he was 10 years old his dream was to be a mental health counselor. He graduated from Blair High School with the class of 1993 and would go on to pursue his master’s in psychology at Chadron University, graduating in 1999. After graduation, Mike continued to follow his passion of psychology, being a mental health therapist working at several counseling clinics in the Omaha area.
Friends and family will remember Mike for his love of woodworking, hunting, cooking, "Star Wars" and being a gamer. Mike was a man that liked to keep himself busy and learning, making his own beer, cheese, and jewelry. He continuously educated himself in history and different ways of cooking various recipes. Mike's love for learning always paid off for him, from his high school years to college. Everyone was always impressed with his growing knowledge. His love language was best recognized by his cooking skills, altering recipes to make a better version. The family will always remember him for being the one to cut the turkey over thanksgiving and for making food at home better than you could get at a restaurant.
On January 4th, 2013, Mike was united in marriage to the love of his life, Laura, where he would come into the lives of his stepchildren, Carter and Ella. While Mike and Laura created a life together, they welcomed their beloved daughter Clara in 2015. Becoming a father turned into one of Mike’s favorite passions, above all his hobbies and interests. If you knew Mike, you knew just how proud he was of his children and family.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Laura; stepchildren and daughter: Carter, Ella and Clara; parents: Kevin and Sheryl Rolland; sister Jaclyn (Travis) Svendgard; nephews: Cameron and Gherig Svendgard; as well as loving family and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family asks for those willing to write of their stories and memories of Mike to the family to ensure those memories are captured and able to be reflected upon.
