Kies leads BYSS at Omaha trapshoot

Blair Black lineup finishes 3rd overall

Kalvin Kies was the high overall champion of Blair Youth Shooting Sports' second Eastern Cornhusker Trapshooting Conference (ECTC) shoot Saturday at Harry A Koch Trap & Skeet in Omaha.
Leading his Blair Black lineup to a third overall finish, the marksman finished third among all shooters taking aim from 24-25 yards and was 94-for-100 altogether for first.
Elijah Tabor added an 88-for-100 effort to the Black lineup, while Gavin Baker — who also earned second from 20-21 yards — and Evan Brodersen each hit 86 clay pigeons. Tregan Baker shot 74, too, for a 428 total.
Blair's Jacob Vanek and Jager Leichleiter notched top-three handicap finishes from 20-21 yards, too. Vanek was first, going 46-for-50 and 86-for-100 overall. Leichleiter was third, successfully shooting down 45 and 87 targets, respectively.
Jase Lantry (84 percent), Gabe Vaughan (81) and Roman Sahm (80) all hit 80 percent or better on their attempts as well.
Blair's Alyssa Lode did, too, finishing 85-for-100 overall. She was third in the 16-yard female category, shooting 47-for-50 from the distance.
Arlington marksmen, meanwhile, helped their Fremont Gold lineup to second place team finishes in the high overall and handicap standings in Omaha. Shane Japp went 87-for-100 overall, while Kaleb Dowling and Zane Gerrish shot 86 and 83 clay pigeons, respectively.
Wyatt Widman (89 targets), Cyris Sass (84), Wyatt Flesner (83), Trenton Hansen (81), Jake Flesner (81) and Cooper Staats (80) all hit 80 or better of their targets, too.

Juniors shoot in Papillion
The second week of the ECTC schedule took Junior Division shooters to Papillion on Saturday.
It's where Blair Youth Shooting Sports' Greyson Nichols produced the third-best effort of the day, going 45-for-50 on his shots. His Blair Blue lineup finished fourth overall with Henry Heuton, Noah Marquiss, Jackson Kempcke and Greyson Nixon all contributing.
Arlington's Jack Fletcher was apart of Fremont's fifth-place Black team lineup, too.
