Joan M. Foley, 93 of Blair, passed away peacefully Dec. 31, 2021 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. She was the personification of grace and selflessness and will be terribly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery in Blair. Visitation will be held Wednesday, with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. and a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Campbell-Aman funeral home.

Joan M. Foley was born Jan. 8, 1928 to Chuck & Nellie Hughes of rural Walnut, Iowa. She graduated from Atlantic High School and moved to Omaha where she worked for Union Pacific. She enjoyed talking about the train trips she was able to take with her friends while working for the railroad. She Married John R. Foley on June 26, 1954 in Atlantic, Iowa. They settled in on the farm south of Blair where they spent 58 years lovingly raising 9 children, 19 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren, whom all made her unbelievably happy and proud. Joan devoted her life to raising and caring for her family and in this she was a spectacular success. She taught us how to live, laugh and love. She was happy and sassy until her last hours and was trying to take care of her family until the end.

She is survived by her children: Debbie and (Larry) Wetterberg, Omaha; Diane Kopf Foley, Norfolk; Julie Foley, Blair; Pam and (Keith) Southworth, Papillion; John and (Krista) Foley, Houston, Texas; Ellen and (Bill) Miller, Blair; Tom Foley, San Diego, Calif. and Joe and (Barbara) Foley, Omaha; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband John R. Foley, her parents Chuck and Nellie Hughes, brother Charles Hughes, daughter Kathleen Foley, granddaughter Caidy Wetterberg and great-grandson Ace Moudy.
