Janet Elaine Horacek (nee Wismont) passed away on December 30, 2023, at Methodist Hospital, at the young age of 77. She was born on January 14, 1946, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Janet was a beloved wife to her one true love, Larry Horacek, for 58 years, and a devoted mother to Tressa (Michael), Tony, and Ted (JoDee). She was a very proud grandma to Dakota (Christian), Matthew (Amanda), Sadie, Air, Andrew, Elly, Luke, Frances, Carly, Tanner, Tate, Taylor, Casey, and she delighted in her namesake, her baby great-granddaughter Jane Joyce (JJ).

Janet also leaves behind her very dear sister, Gayle Marek, her brothers and their spouses, Rich (Debbie) Wismont, and Roger (Cathy) Wismont, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and second cousins. She was preceded in death by her precious mother Clare Biggerstaff, whom she lovingly cared for in her final years, her father Lou Wismont, brother Ron Wismont, and sister-in-law Barb Horacek.

Janet had a fulfilling career, working at Madonna School and Duchesne Academy in the Development and IT departments. She was a dedicated employee, made lifelong friendships, and left a positive impact at these schools.

Janet found deep contentment and comfort in her marriage, joy in attending/supporting her grandchildren's games and activities, gardening, exploring Lauritzen Gardens, and delving into genealogy. She loved traveling with her husband, and she was so very talented! The products of her passion for crocheting, knitting, sewing, and creating were shared with many.  Janet cherished any and every moment she spent with her large family, nurtured her dear friendships, and always made you feel like you were the light of her eye when in her presence. She was our matriarch! Her example of unconditional love is her gift and legacy for us, her near and dears.

Let us celebrate her by wearing bright, cheery colors! We will represent the flowers she loved to cultivate.
