Gladys Jensen, born October 10, 1930, to Arthur and Ellen (Lund) Jensen.  A proud Kennard Tiger cheerleader, Gladys graduated from high school in 1948. Her lifelong journey with Don Watts began in the 7th grade, leading to their marriage on February 26, 1952, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church.

After briefly working at the Mode O’Day dress shop in Fremont, Gladys and Don settled in Blair in 1963 to raise their eight children. While Don traveled much of the time for his insurance career to provide for the family, Gladys was the heart of the home, always there for whatever her children needed—whether it was a listening ear, a helping hand, a home-cooked meal, or a ride across town. Above all, she made sure each child felt loved and cared for.

A dedicated volunteer, she served her church, the Blair Hospital Auxiliary, and local schools. She cherished her “Ladies Night Out” and “Unameus” pinochle clubs, especially the time spent with her sister and best friend, Arlene Robinson. She was an avid reader and bell collector and was legendary for her homemade potato salad and the traditional family Christmas meal of chicken and noodles.

Gladys is survived by her children Ann (Kerry) McKain of Blair, Kathy Halada, Sue (Melvin) Center of Lincoln, Jean Watts, Michael (Laura) Watts of Omaha, and Edward (Jimmi) Watts of Bennington; son-in-law Robert Hullett of Omaha; and daughter-in-law Vickie Watts of Missouri Valley, Iowa.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her daughter, Laurie Hullett; her son, Robert Watts; son-in-law Dave Halada; and grandson, Tim Hullett.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to all the staff at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home for the love, kindness, and care they provided to Mom. Gladys moved into assisted living in 2019 and later moved to the nursing home in 2023.
