Frances Clements, 80

Posted

Frances Major Clements was born to Victor and Olena (Chestem) Major on Aug. 3, 1943 in Blair, Neb. She passed away peacefully at Arbor Care Center in Tekamah on Nov. 25, 2023 at the age of 80 after a brief illness.

Frances graduated from Tekamah High School in 1961. Following graduation, she attended Wayne State College. She then moved to Omaha to attend UNO, where she was also a nanny.

During this time, she met her future husband, Jimmy Joe Clements. They were married on Aug. 28, 1963 and moved to Norfolk. A son, Greg, followed shortly after. In 1965, they moved to Loveland, Colo., welcoming two daughters, Tanis and Cathy. In 1979, they moved back to the family farm in Nebraska where they farmed and she worked for several local businesses as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed wintering in Texas, making new camping friends.

Above all else, her grandchildren were her life. She loved traveling to see them in Wyoming, Idaho, Washington D.C., Washington state, New York and Montana. She spent time with Claire at the Ronald McDonald House in Seattle, with Marshall and Myles in Idaho and got to go on Claire’s Make-a-Wish trip to London. When Lindsey moved from New York to Montana, Frances was Lindsey’s co-pilot.

She enjoyed sewing blankets, hats, and Halloween costumes for the grandkids. She always had projects in the works — wall hangings, quilts or baby blankets. Frances’ talents will live on with all of the love she put into each thing she created.

Frances was a very liberal democratic and proud of it.

She was proceeded in death by her parents. She is survived by husband Jim, son Greg (Norma) Clements of Big Piney, Wyo.; daughter Tanis (Chris) Reyburn of Longmont, Colo.; daughter Cathy (Mark) Bates of Fishkill, N.Y. Grandchildren Marshall (Hanna) Reyburn of San Diego, Calif.; Claire Reyburn of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Myles Reyburn of Longmont, Colo.; Lindsey Nun of Billings, Mont. She is also survived by her brother Les (Carmen) Major of Sioux City, Iowa, and niece Donna Major of Sioux City, Iowa.
