FCHS boys track wins Logan View Invite

The Fort Calhoun track and field boys won five events Tuesday during the Logan View Invite, securing a meet title with 152 team points.
Coach Mandy Taylor's girls finished second with 108 points, too.
Overall, Preston Johnson, Lawson Tjardes, Brayden Bessey, Bria Bench and Kaylee Taylor all won individual events for the Pioneers. Johnson sprinted 200 meters in 24.01 seconds for his gold medal, while Lawson Tjardes — a Nebraska Wesleyan recruit — earned first in the 1,600 run with a time of 4:46.37.
Bessey, however, claimed his first event win of the season in the 3,200 run. He crossed the finish line in 11:23.91.
The FCHS boys won two relay races, too. The 400-meter team of Alex Schuler, Blake Welchert, Michael Maxon and Johnson stopped the clock in 45.18, while the 3,200 relay squad of Chris Post-Whiteowl, Travis Skelton, Eddie Lautrup and Tjardes won in 9:02.06.
On the girls' side, Taylor won both the long and triple jumps. The Pioneer finished those events with top leaps of 15 feet, 6 inches, and 32-8.5, respectively.
Bench, meanwhile, won the 3,200-meter run in 13:35.18. The senior and her teammates will next compete 10 a.m. Friday at Wahoo.
