Fifteen Washington County wrestlers earned top-four district tournament finishes Saturday afternoon, joining Blair High School’s Abigail James as state qualifiers.
The Bears will have nine wrestlers — Hudson Loges, Luke Frost, Tyson Brown, Jesse Loges, Brock Templar, Yoan Camejo, Kaden Sears, Jim Rasmussen and Seagan Packett-Trisdale — compete in boys brackets for state medals next Thursday through Feb. 18 in Omaha. They earned their spots, a week after James earned her’s, during the Class B District 4 Tournament in Ogallala as BHS finished second to Waverly overall.
Hudson Loges (106 pounds), Jesse Loges (138) and Camejo (160) won bracket titles.
Also in Ogallala, Fort Calhoun’s Lance Olberding, Ely Olberding and Wesley Short earned their own Class B state spots with top-four finishes. Their team was eighth as the Olberdings took second-place finishes at 132 and 138 pounds, respectively.
Elsewhere, in Albion, the Arlington Eagles’ Jake Flesner, Trey Hill and Tanner Kyllo took top-four finishes during the Class C District 1 Tournament at Boone Central High School. The Eagles finished 11th as a team with 60 points.
Hill was third at 113 pounds, while Flesner and Kyle took fourth at 106 and 120, respectively.
