The Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating an illegal fireworks manufacturer in Fort Calhoun.

Deputies, two agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and a Nebraska State Patrol bomb tech responded to residence at approximately 9:28 p.m. Sunday for possible explosives located.

“We called in the ATF and State Patrol to seize the evidence,” Capt. Aaron Brensel said.

The officers located homemade explosive devices, powder and manufacturing equipment, according to the sheriff's e-patrol report.

Brensel said the incident remains under investigation. Charges are pending as deputies await the results from the Nebraska State Patrol.
