Connie L. Nelsen, 72, of Blair, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on Oct. 18, 2023.
Connie was born on May 19, 1951, to Edward and Opal (Hapke) Grabbe in Blair, Neb. Connie attended country school at Spiker School through eighth grade then graduated from Herman High School in 1969. Connie was active in volleyball and chorus.
After graduating, Connie began working and throughout her life, held various jobs; mainly in the culinary area.
Connie enjoyed growing up on the family farm and held her love for the outdoors throughout her life. Connie was an avid sports fan. Teams she followed were: Nebraska women’s volleyball and basketball, Iowa and Tennessee Lady Vols basketball. Connie revered Nebraska Football Saturdays. Football game day was a favorite time for her, as she enjoyed bringing her homemade treats and potluck dishes to the Legion and VFW. Connie treasured her afternoons with her card club, The Mixed Nuts. She relished the time she spent with her card club “sisters.”
In 2003, Connie met Bobbi Jo Lockhart. On July 31, 2003, they became life partners. Throughout their time together, shared their lives with many fur babies. Together they traveled, never missing a chance for Connie to look for souvenirs.
Connie was preceded in death by parents and grandparents. She is survived by partner Bobbi Jo Lockhart, pets Marley, Maisy and Shelby. Siblings Deanna Tuttle, Mona Stout and Rick Grabbe, along with other family members and many friends.
Celebration of Life will occur Oct. 28, 2023 at the VFW in Blair, Neb., at 1 p.m.
