Blair Youth Shooting Sports' Greyson Nixon and Jackson Kempcke earned top-four trapshooting finishes Saturday during the season-opening Blair Buckle Shoot at the BYSS Range.
Competing in the Junior Division, Nixon and Kempcke earned third and fourth, respectively, behind Fremont marksmen Landon Beattie and Cade Lynch.
BYSS hosted the event for Junior and Senior Division shooters from Bennington, Omaha Creighton Prep, Fremont and Omaha Marion. It'll host a season-opening Eastern Cornhusker Trapshooting Conference Senior Division shoot this Saturday, too.
Last Saturday, though, Juniors saw 75 clay pigeon to start. The marksmen with top-five scores advanced onto the finals from 19 yards.
Kempcke, Noah Marquiss, Nixon and Henry Heuton all represented Blair in the finals after they hit 66, 66, 58 and 67 targets during the opening round, respectively. From there, Nixon was 21-for-25 from 19 yards and 23-for-25 from 20 to finish third. Kempcke went 21-for-25 and 21-for-25 from the finals distances, too.
Beattie was 23-for-25 from 19 yards to earn first overall.
In the Senior Division Buckle Shoot, Jack Plambeck of Omaha Creighton Prep and Omaha Marian's Elizabeth Buescher earned first overall. Kellen Shelton of Fremont and Haley Wynn of Bennington were both second, respectively, after taking aim at championship round targets from 25 yards at the BYSS Range.
Blair finalists in the boys' Senior Division were Evan Brodersen, Tregan Baker and Gabe Vaughan. Brodersen and Baker both went 95-for-100 during the qualifying round, while Vaughan hit 94 targets.
On the girls' side, Jaydyn Backman and Revlyn Rasmussen both hit 87 of the 100 targets they aimed at during the first round of shooting.
