Bridgette Woodring Mitchell unexpectedly passed away, Thursday, Dec. 28 from a pulmonary embolism.

Bridgette was born May 27, 1971, in Blair, Nebraska. She was the middle child of David and Karla Woodring. After graduating Blair High School in 1989, she moved to Alabama to be closer to her mom and youngest sister. She soon graduated from Prince Institute where she embarked on her long and illustrious career as a court reporter. It was while working at Applebee’s during her college years that she met her beloved Andy Mitchell. Bridgette and her soulmate remained together until his death in 2019.

Bridgette was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker and Alabama Crimson Tide Football fan. She also loved cheering on the Nebraska Cornhusker Women’s Volleyball team. Bridgette loved spending time at her place in Lake Martin which she called her “happy place." This is where, despite never owning or driving a boat before, she bought a brand-new Pontoon boat. One of her proudest achievements was finally conquering the ability to get the boat in her boat slip.

The center of Bridgette’s world was her loving family and many friends, both near and far. She had a smile that lit up a room and a huge heart for everyone she came into contact with. She would gladly give anyone the shirt off her back... unless it was Chanel. When she passed everyone lost their “go-to person."

Bridgette was preceded in death by her husband Andy Mitchell, grandparents Brice and June Woodring, Ruth Butler and Richard Eisenhardt.

She is survived by her Father David Woodring(Connie), her Mother Karla Woodring, Sisters Michelle Woodring Scarbrough and Vicki Woodring Pishna, beloved Stepson Gaelen Mitchell, her Niece Mikayla Pishna and Nephew Charlie Pishna. She is also survived by many Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Friends, including her Nebraska Forever Friends, and Special Friends Dorothy Nave and Ja Neese.

The Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024 at Leak Memory Chapel in Montgomery, AL. The viewing begins at 3 p.m. The service begins at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bridgette Mitchell Scholarship Fund. Checks can be sent to:
