Blair High School's roller coaster baseball season continued Monday and Tuesday against top-10 rated opponents.
The 8-11 Bears first routed Class B No. 9 Seward 14-0 before a 6-0 shutout loss to No. 2 Elkhorn North at Vets Field. The outings followed back-to-back Saturday losses to teams with a combined record of 16-20, too.
BHS belted 16 hits against Seward, including a pair of doubles by J'Shawn Unger and Tanner Jacobson.
Brady Brow' tripled against the Bluejays, too. Altogether, the senior outfielder was 4-for-4 with three RBIs on Monday.
Unger, Owen Mann and Nelson Kosch plated two runs apiece as well, while Nate Wachter — who was 3-for-4 — and Dylan Swanson each notched an RBI.
Swanson also earned the pitching win, striking out eight runners across 6 2/3 two-hit innings. He was relieved by Jake Gaskill, who finished out the game with 11 pitches.
A day later, the Blair ballplayers returned to their home diamond and failed to score a run on four hits. Unger was 2-for-3 Tuesday, while both Wachter and Mann added a hit apiece. Their production, however, wasn't enough despite the efforts of Jacobson, who pitched all seven innings and struck out three Wolves.
BHS' next opponent is Douglas County West, which will host the Bears today. The road game starts at 4:30 p.m. in Valley City Park.
Then, on Saturday, coach John Roan's team will play at 10 a.m. on Omaha Westview's home field.

JV wins, too
The Blair junior varsity baseball team earned back-to-back wins against Seward and Elkhorn North, too. The Bears topped the Bluejays 7-4 before securing an 8-7 win against the Wolves.
In the latter matchup, Colton Flynn produced the go-ahead, RBI double.
