Basketball district finals round is Friday

For the second straight year, the Arlington High School girls basketball team is a win away from clinching its first state tournament qualification since 2001.
The Eagles are expected to play for it Friday. Official game information was unavailable as of press time, however.
Coach Tashia Wolf's team earned the Class C1 District Finals position with last Thursday's 62-49 win against Pierce. AHS improved to 20-4 in victory, while the Bluejays dropped to 18-8 in defeat.
“Pierce has a lot to offer,” Wolf said, complimenting the opposing squad's skill level.
Arlington played a strong first period to combat its opposition, though. It built a 16-10 lead through 8 minutes with junior Macy Wolf scoring seven points with a 3-point make.
Senior Britt Nielsen scored five of her eight points during the opening period, too.
“They were really focused,” Coach Wolf said of her Eagles.
AHS ultimately led 27-21 at halftime, but Nielsen got into foul trouble as the game went along, forcing the Eagles' bench to step up. Wolf said the players did, crediting “every single person” for the success.
In the end, Arlington won with Macy Wolf and Emme Timm scoring 19 points apiece. Senior Hailey O'Daniel added 11 points, too, scoring nine from beyond the 3-point line.
The C1-5 Subdistrict Tournament victory produced “a lot of relief,” Coach Wolf said. She believes going into the last game before state on a high note is key.
