AHS softball goes 2-1 at season-opening tourney

Eagles start with 10-1 win

Arlington softball senior Kiersten Taylor opened her season Saturday with Emery McIntosh on base against Ord.
The Eagle started with an RBI triple swing as coach Janelle Lorsch's team began the 2022 fall campaign with a 2-1 Wayne tournament showing.
First, AHS beat Ord 10-1. After Taylor's RBI swing during the first inning, Cadie Robinson added a second before later scoring on a passed ball for a three-run advantage.
Sydney Magnino added a two-run double during the third frame, while Bailey Taylor and Rylee Fuehrer plated a run apiece in the fifth.
Finally, ahead 7-1, Robinson notched a second RBI in the sixth as the Eagles went on to win by nine.
Next, Lorsch's team lost a 9-5 game to Wayne before a 5-4 win against Centura/Central Valley.
The Eagles outscored the Devils 3-1 during the last two innings of their semifinals game, but the home team still won by four runs. It led 5-0 before AHS' Britt Nielsen notched a two-RBI single during the second frame.
Then, for third, coach Lorsch's team produced the winning runs during the top of the sixth inning. Tied 3-3 with Centura, Bailey Taylor and Nielsen notched a pair of RBI singles.
The opposition scored a run during the bottom half, but pitcher Kiersten Taylor held it off for the win.
