The second-seeded Blair boys soccer team beat No. 3 Madison on Monday during the first round of the Class B Subdistrict 5 Tournament at South Sioux City.
The Bears scored a 2-0 lead and won 3-1, advancing into the subdistrict final against the tourney hosts.
“It was chilly, but there was no rain,” coach Curt Scott said, noting that “it was chilly enough.”

On Monday, though, senior Kip Tupa scored BHS' first goal against the Dragons with Elias Cortez providing the assist, according to coach Curt Scott. The Bears' second score came on what he classified as an “own goal.”
Madison scored one for itself during the final minute of the first half, but it didn't score again.
Blair sophomore Riley Wolff, meanwhile, added an insurance goal late in the second half — on a second Cortez assist — as his team improved to 4-8 with its second-straight win. Scott believed his Bears were always better than their 2-8 start.
“I don't think this is a two-and-whatever team and we were two-and-whatever for awhile,” the coach said.
