The final Nannen & Harte Physical Therapy Athlete of the Week feature of the 2022-23 winter season is upon us and I have three great athletes to recognize. Glenn Hunter and Greyson Kay scored well in postseason hoops, while Lizzie Meyer earned podium spots alongside her swimming teammates.

Glenn Hunter, Fort Calhoun basketball: The senior Pioneer scored 15 points in his final high school game, excelling from beyond the 3-point arc. He averaged 7.4 points per game this season.

Lizzie Meyer, Fremont swimming: The AHS junior competed alongside Tiger teammate Madelyn Buck, and BHS’ Ryleigh Schroeter and Jane Busboom, and earned a pair of top-seven relay finishes at the state meet. She also competed in the individual 50- and 100-yard freestyle races.

Greyson Kay, Blair basketball: The senior guard scored 51 points across two subdistrict wins and made the highlight of the tournament — a game-winning, half-court 3-pointer against the top-seeded Bennington Badgers.

As always, thanks for reading and recognizing the hard work of our county kids. Athlete of the Week coverage will be off for a week or two as winter sports come to a close, but we’ll be up and running (in most cases, literally) soon for the spring.
