Washington County high school wrestlers Ely Olberding, Hudson Loges and Trey Hill made it easy on me. They’ve all accomplished Nannen & Harte Physical Therapy Athlete of the Week status before, but they’ve done it again with their NSAA State Wrestling Championships work.
Ely Olberding, Fort Calhoun wrestling: The winningest Pioneer in school history, the 138-pounder closed his prep career with a second finals appearance. He finished second.
Hudson Loges, Blair wrestling: The 106-pound sophomore won the big one by 5-0 decision. The fifth Bear to win a state title finished 54-1, breaking the school record for single-season wins.
Trey Hill, Arlington wrestling: In his fourth career state tourney match, the Eagles’ 113-pounder claimed his first victory in Omaha. He, ultimately, was a single win away from a state medal.
Thanks for reading this and our state wrestling coverage. It was a long couple of days, but plenty exciting with some great performances by Washington County’s best — these three Athletes of the Week included.
