FCHS bounces back from lopsided loss

Pioneers are 8-10 overall

The Fort Calhoun High School baseball team lost by 20 runs Monday.
On Tuesday, it bounced back, holding off a hard-charging Thurston-Cuming County team on the road, 13-11. Coach Roy Prauner's Pioneers are 8-10 overall with four regular season games remaining.
Eric Koterba, Kenny Wellwood and Declyn Otte led FCHS against TCC with three RBIs apiece. AJ Duros plated two Pioneer runs, too.
Koterba homered, while both Sam Genoways and Wellwood doubled.
Wellwood pitched against Thurston-Cuming County, too, striking out four batters across six innings. He allowed just two earned runs.
The Pioneers next host Parents Night today at 4:30 p.m. They play Lincoln Christian before a noon Saturday game at Omaha Concordia.

Devils crush Pioneers
A three-game FCHS winning streak came to an end Monday as Plattsmouth crushed the Pioneers, 20-0. The Devils led 4-0 on the road through four innings, but added 16 runs across the fifth and sixth frames to win by run rule.
Calhoun used five pitchers in the game with Alex Christensen striking out four batters, but also allowing nine runs. Wellwood, meanwhile, was 2-for-3 at the plate with a double. Duros, Genoways and Jordan Back added hits, too, but their team lost in lopsided fashion.
