The Omaha Skutt tennis team swept Blair on Thursday at Stemmermann Park.
“Played tough,” Bears coach David Christensen said after the 5-0 loss. “But Skutt has some really talented girls.”
The BHS doubles team of Abby Leggott and Ally Sullivan played the closest varsity match against the Skyhawks. The pairing fell 8-4, while Leah Chance and Shelby Wolff dropped their No. 2 doubles matchup 8-2.
In singles play, the Bears' senior trio of Abi Lundberg, Fiene Bakker and Tailyn Anderson were all unsuccessful. Lundberg fell 8-0, while her teammates dropped 8-1 and 8-0 matches, respectively.
Two junior varsity matches went in Blair's favor, though. Coach Christensen said the doubles team of Jo Inget and Kayleia Chesson claimed a victory as did Teagan Isaacson.
The varsity Bears were scheduled to compete again Monday during the Eastern Midlands Conference Tournament in Lincoln. Today, they're back in Lincoln for a Pius X tournament at Woods Tennis Center. The first matches start at 8:30 a.m., according to the BHS activities calendar.
