6 county marksmen medal at Cornhusker Trap Shoot

Kalivn Kies, Harry Kies and Gerrish lead the way

Kalvin Kies, Harry Kies and Zane Gerrish highlighted Washington County's participation Friday and Saturday during the 54th Annual Cornhusker Trap Shoot in Doniphan.
The Kies led Blair Youth Shooting Sports' Terminators lineup to a fourth-place finish in the handicap shoot with top individual results, while Gerrish — a multi-sport Arlington student-athlete — earned first among all marksmen shooting from 22-23 yards.
Kalvin Kies was fifth from 24-25 yards, taking out 67 of the 75 targets he aimed at. He also took 10th overall, shooting 138-for-150 for the weekend across both the 16-yard and handicap shoots.
Harry Kies, meanwhile, was fifth from 20-21 yards, shooting down 65 of 75 targets with his shotgun.
Gerrish, though, was 70-for-75 from his handicap distance. He was first by one target, besting Lincoln Southwest's Nathanael Taylor.
Altogether, the Terminators finished with a score of 311 — 14 behind the Creighton Prep Blue crew that won the handicap shoot. In addition to Kalvin and Harry Kies' marks, Riley Brodersen (65-for-75), Triston Clausen (61) and Tyler Hume (53) contributed to the fourth-place effort.
In the high overall standings, Kalvin Kies took out just two more targets than Blair teammate Riley Brodersen, who shot down 136. Hayden White (133 targets), Elijah Tabor (126), Harry Kies (125), Revlyn Rasmussen (124), Clausen (124), Evan Brodersen (124), Hume (123), Jase Lantry (123), Aaron Hinman (123), Gaige Bolton (122), Aaron Pierce (122), Jayden Backman (121) and Tyler Behnk (120) went 120-for-150 or better, too.
Gerrish, meanwhile, led all Arlington shooters in the overall standings with a 135-for-150 effort. Kaleb Dowling (130), Wyatt Widman (126), John VonBehren (125), Brayden Stonehocker (124) and Shane Japp (123) topped the 80 percent mark, too.
Will Bogar and Morgan Shaner represented Fort Calhoun in Doniphan, too, taking out 121 and 68 targets, respectively.
Notably, Landen Nowalk was the Cornhusker Cup Champion, hitting 145 of the 150 targets he aimed at. The North Platte shooter bested Michael Day of Bellevue West by tiebreaker.

Juniors shoot Thursday
The Junior marksmen and women opened the Cornhusker Trap Shoot on Thursday, too.
Norris earned the top team finish, while the Otte Blair Middle School Crushers finished with a score of 369. The Arlo Maroon of Arlington finished with a 357 and the Fort Calhoun Destroyers notched a 316.
Individually, Tregan Baker of Blair earned Washington County's top finish. The BYSS standout went 88-for-100, while Trenton Hansen of Arlington took out 84 targets.
Blair's Ryker Villwok was 81-for-100, too, as Fort Calhoun marksman Landry Benoit took out 79 clay targets. The county's Jackson Kempcke (78), Greyson Nixon (75), Henry Heuton (73), Gage Vaughan (73), Jack Fletcher (71) and Devon Lantry (70) shot down 70 or more of the 100 targets they saw, too.
